IP Rating
IP Rating, or Ingress Protection Rating, is a standard that defines the level of protection provided by electrical enclosures against the intrusion of solid objects (like dust) and liquids (like water). It is represented by the initials "IP" followed by two digits. The first digit ranges from 0 to 6 and indicates the degree of protection against solid objects, with 0 meaning no protection and 6 meaning complete protection against dust. The second digit ranges from 0 to 8 and specifies the level of protection against water, with 0 meaning no protection and 8 indicating protection against continuous immersion in water. IP Ratings help consumers and manufacturers understand the durability and suitability of devices for different environments, facilitating informed choices for applications ranging from outdoor electronics to industrial equipment.
