Digital Zoom
Digital zoom is a feature found in cameras and other imaging devices that allows users to magnify an image by cropping it and then enlarging the cropped section to fill the frame. Unlike optical zoom, which uses lenses to physically change the focal length and magnify the subject while maintaining image quality, digital zoom reduces the overall resolution of the image because it effectively removes pixels from the original image and then enlarges the remaining ones. This can result in a loss of clarity and detail, leading to a pixelated or less sharp image. Digital zoom is often used in smartphones and compact cameras where optical zoom capabilities may be limited or absent.
